How to Take Screenshots in Incognito Mode in Android

Incognito mode is an online privacy feature that prevents your browsing history from being stored. While the feature is effective for browsing without leaving a trace, it can sometimes limit the experience. For example, you are not allowed to take screenshots in Incognito mode.

If you have the need to take screenshots in Incognito mode, here we show you how to lift this restriction in Android and take screenshots in the most popular mobile browsers.

Take Screenshots In Chrome Incognito Mode

If you’re using Chrome for Android, then you have to enable the feature in flags. Here’s how you can do it.

1. Open the Chrome browser on your Android phone.
2. In the Chrome app, use the address bar and type chrome://flags.

3. Use the search bar at the top to look for “Incognito Screenshot.”

4. When you’ve found it, tap on the drop-down menu beneath it and select “Enabled.”

5. Press the “Relaunch” button to re-open Chrome.

6. Open an Incognito mode window by tapping on the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner and selecting “New Incognito Tab.” You should now be able to take screenshots even when browsing privately.

Take Screenshots in Firefox Private Browsing Mode

In Firefox for Android, things are even easier. All you need to do is enable the feature from the browser’s settings and you’ll be good to go.

1. Open the Firefox browser on your Android phone.
2. Tap on the three-dot menu in the upper-left corner.
3. Go to Settings.

4. Scroll down until you find the “Private browsing” section and tap on it.

5. Toggle on the option to “Allow screenshots in private browsing.”

6. Open a new Incognito window by tapping the Mask icon in the upper-right corner under the address bar. The screenshot should be available now.

Take Screenshots In Edge InPrivate Mode

The oddly named “InPrivate” mode for Microsoft’s Edge browser for Android has its own unique way of letting you take screenshots.

While you can’t take screenshots in Edge InPrivate Mode using the standard screenshot buttons on your phone, the method is in a way simpler.

1. Open a tab in InPrivate mode in Edge, then tap the “Share” icon at the bottom right corner.

2. On the next screen (which we can’t take a screenshot of, unfortunately!), tap “Screenshot” to grab whatever page you’re on. You’ll then have the option to “Save” the screenshot to your device or “Share” it to other apps, cloud accounts and so on.

You need to do this each time you want to take a screenshot on Edge InPrivate mode.

Take Screenshots in Opera Private Mode

While using Incognito mode in Opera for Android, it’s not possible to take a screenshot using the usual methods. (For example, by doing a three-finger swipe on the screen.) However, the browser allows you to take snaps if you so desire.

1. Open the Opera browser on your Android phone.
2. Tap on the Tabs button at the bottom (fourth icon).

3. Tap on Private at the top to open a new Incognito window.

4. Once a new private window is opened, navigate to your webpage of choice.
5. Tap on the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.
6. Select the option to “Take snapshot.”

7. That’s it, you’re done!
