Enable Do Not Disturb on Your Mac
1. Click on the Notification bar icon in the top-right corner of your Mac.
2. Once the Notification Centre is revealed, swipe up.
3. This will reveal two options: Night Shift and Do Not Disturb. Simply turn the switch on to enable “Do Not Disturb” on for your Mac.
Do Not Disturb is set by default to turn off when the next day starts. That’s why you might see “Do Not Disturb will turn off tomorrow” once you enable it.
How to Customize Do Not Disturb on Mac
You can also customize Do Not Disturb and schedule it to automatically turn on/off at a specific time. This can be very helpful, as it allows you to set a certain time (such as your office work hours) where you don’t want to be disturbed by any notifications and want to focus solely on your work. You can customize your Do Not Disturb settings by following the steps below:
1. Open up System Preferences on your Mac.
2. Click on Notifications.
3. From the pane on the left, select “Do Not Disturb.”
Here you’ll be presented with various options to customize Do Not Disturb. These as are follows:
- Schedule Do Not Disturb – You can set a certain time period for Do Not Disturb to turn on/off to your needs
- When the Display is Sleeping – Enabling this will keep Do Not Disturb enabled even when your Mac is idle and the display is turned off to conserve battery.
- When Mirroring to TVs and Projectors – This will keep Do Not Disturb on when you mirror your Mac to a TV or projector. Do note that this does not include using your Mac on an external display.
- Calling Options – Using these options you can choose whether you want Do Not Disturb to allow calls to pass through or not. You can also choose to keep calls off, but allow repeated calls (calls received twice within a span of 2 minutes) to pass through to your Mac.
