What Is Spotify Blend?

Spotify recently rolled out Blend alongside “Only You” – a new in-app experience featuring listening statistics and personalized playlists. The feature shows individual stats, such as “Your artist pairs,” that highlights the range of your listening interests, or “Your Genres/Topics,” which brings home the unique combination of music and podcast genres that defines your listening experience.

Blend, on the other hand, taps on the all-too-human desire to share our favorite tracks with our closest friends and family. The feature allows two people to merge their musical tastes into a curate playlist that “blends” their preferences. Once created, the Blend playlist will be updated on a daily basis, being influenced by how the users’ listening habits change over time.

Blend is accessible through the new “Made for You” hub, which is now available in the Spotify app. The feature is currently in beta.

Who Can Create Spotify Blend Playlists

The feature is currently available only for mobile users (with an Android or iOS device) who have a Free or Premium account on Spotify. Since the feature just started rolling out earlier this summer, it may not appear for everyone just yet.

If you can’t find it in your Spotify, make sure you update the app to the latest version and try again. If you still can’t see it, then you may have to wait a while for it to become available in your region.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How can I fix invitation links that are crashing?

Got a buggy invitation link or send one to your friend? Keep in mind that Blend is still in beta, so bugs like this are bound to happen from time to time. Just exit Spotify, open it up again and give it another try. Generate a link and send it over. It should take care of the issue.

2. Why can’t I share a Blend playlist with someone else?

While the option to Share your Blend playlist exists, it does not appear to be functional. You can find it by tapping on the three dots underneath your Blend playlist thumbnail and selecting Share. However, in our trials the recipient of the link could not access the playlist. Since Blend is in beta, it’s possible that this feature is still in development, so it may become functional at a later time.

3. How can I access Blend on Spotify’s desktop client?

Unfortunately no, you can’t create a Blend playlist from the web player. However, you can access Blend playlists that you’ve previously set up in the mobile app. It’s safe to assume that Spotify will be adding the option to create Blend playlists from its web client in the near future.
