While there are a number of tools to record the screen of an Android device, there are not many such tools available for iOS devices. Fortunately, there are some companies that understand the pain of Apple users and thus they have developed tools that can help these users achieve what others are already achieving on their Android devices.
Enter Apowersoft iPhone/iPad Recorder, a tool that lets you record the screen of your iPhone or iPad using your computer.
You may need to record your iOS device’s screen for many reasons. Maybe you are creating video tutorials and you wish to record the screen, or maybe you just want to show your friend what your iPhone’s screen looks like. Regardless of the reason, getting the screen of your iPhone or iPad recorded using Apowersoft’s tool is as easy as using any other normal app.
In order to use the tool, your devices must match the following system requirements:
- iPhone 4S or later with the AirPlay Mirror feature support
- A computer with Wireless LAN card
- Windows or Mac as the base OS
I will be using the tool on my Mac that runs OS X El Capitan.
Streaming and Recording the iPhone Screen on Your Computer
Head over to the Apowersoft iPhone/iPad Recorder page and download the tool to your computer. Double-click on the downloaded package, and install the tool on your computer.
Once installed, launch the tool by clicking on Launchpad in your dock and then searching for and clicking on the Apowersoft tool icon.
Now that the tool is open on your machine, you need to configure your iOS device to work with the tool. To do that access the Control Centre on your iOS device by swiping from the bottom of the screen on the device. Then, choose the option that says “AirPlay” and that should launch the AirPlay feature on your device.
On the screen that follows you should be asked where you wish to AirPlay the screen. Choose “Apowersoft” from the list, and then you should see an additional option that says “Mirroring.” Turn the toggle for it ON so that you can see your screen on your computer.
When that is all done, tap on “Done” on your device.
You should now be able to see your iOS device’s screen on your computer. To record the screen, hover your mouse over on the top of the tool, and you should see a red icon that lets you start the recording of your device’s screen. Click on it.
When you are done recording the screen, click on the “Stop recording” button. It is the red-coloured square button located in the top-left corner of the tool.
As soon as the recording is stopped, the folder containing the recorded files should launch where you can view the recording of your device that you just made. Since the file is in .mp4 format, you should be able to play it with any standard media player on your computer.
Personally, I liked the app, as it does not involve any unnecessary steps and simply gets the job done.
