Design: Creative and Compact

I was lucky to receive the 30W and 65W models, both standing (literally) clad in a sleek black finish, for this review.

Standing you say? That’s right! The UGREEN Nexode RG series chargers stand personified on their own two (removable) magnetic feet, complete with an LED display that intelligently displays charging status. The magnetic feet keep the AC charging prongs protected while the charger is not in use. Since the feet are magnetic, I opted to occasionally attach the 30W charging adapter to the family fridge for easy grab-and-go access when I’m on my way out the door.

The LED screen on the 65-watt model displays three different facial expressions that serve as indicators for standby mode (no device connected), an in-progress device recharge, and a fully complete device recharge. The standby mode graphic is not supported on the 30W model. Charging indicators based on facial expressions add a bit of character to these powerful chargers.

In our testing, we noted that the “recharge complete” animation may take a while to appear, even if your device is fully charged. Waking the fully charged device a few times seems to remedy this. Let’s take a closer look at all three modes shown below:

GaN has a higher thermal conductivity than silicon, which allows it to dissipate heat more efficiently.
