Unboxing The EMEET Conference Speakerphone

There isn’t much to the unboxing process of the EMEET OfficeCore M0 Plus Conference Speakerphone. It is neatly packed in a simple box. The package contains the speaker, a USB charging cable, and the user manual. A way to plug the USB cable into an outlet is not included, but most people have multi-port charging hubs in their homes, so this is likely only a minor inconvenience for most users.

All of the buttons you need to control the wireless speakerphone are built into the top of the device. There are volume controls, a power button, Bluetooth connectivity button, mute toggle, and a button to answer/end calls.

There are also two sets of lights. One light near the power button provides a status indication. The other five lights show the battery charge and volume levels.

There are two ports on one side of the device: the USB charging port and a headphone jack to daisy-chain two speakers together. (Daisy chain cable sold separately.) The microphone hole is also on this side of the device.

Easy, Peasy Setup (Mostly)

The EMEET OfficeCore M0 Plus is easy to set up with virtually any device. The manufacturer offers two connection methods: Bluetooth and USB. To connect via USB, you must plug the USB cable into the speaker and your device. For Bluetooth, you can look for “EMEET OfficeCore M0 Plus” in your nearby device list and go through the process to connect.

For this trial, I walked through the setup process on three different devices: a Lenovo Yoga running Windows 10, a 2020 MacBook Air, and a Google Pixel 7a.

With the Lenovo laptop, I started by plugging the speaker in via USB. My PC instantly recognized a new device. Within seconds, I noticed it was ready to use the speakerphone. I quickly tested that it could pick up sound and play audio from the PC, then I unplugged it. I repeated the process by locating the speaker in my Bluetooth device list, with a similar result.

Next, I tested the speaker with my MacBook. Since my MacBook does not have a USB-A port, I decided to try connecting it via Bluetooth. It paired instantly once I located the device in the Settings menu. Everything worked well.

Finally, I tried connecting to my Google Pixel 7a. The user manual states, “After the product is turned on, it will connect to mobile devices such as PC or mobile phones through Bluetooth pairing.”

However, I received an error message each time I tried to connect to the Pixel. I did some additional research, and the Q&A section on Amazon states that this speakerphone is not compatible with smartphones, only computers.

I was disappointed. This would have been great for my household, as most of our family lives out of state.

Using the EMEET M0 Plus

Once you connect the EMEET conference speakerphone to your computer, you can begin using it with any video conferencing platform or other software that records and plays audio. The sound quality and mic were impressive, given the device’s size and affordability.

The speaker’s volume is adjustable, with 10 volume settings. You can also use the mute button on the speaker to turn the microphone on and off at any time. This gives users much control over the audio they hear and share while on a call.

Unlike other speakers I’ve tested, I was also glad to see that the EMEET conference speakerphone works well with virtually any platform people use for virtual calls. I tested it with the following conferencing platforms and had great audio quality: Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Slack. I also used it with Loom, Spotify, and Otter to try out the microphone and audio playback. It passed with flying colors.

I don’t know that I would use this speakerphone to play my favorite tunes all day while I write and edit content. It isn’t the most sophisticated speaker for listening to music, but it is fine for voice calls.

Summary

Overall, the EMEET OfficeCore M0 Plus Conference Speakerphone is a great option for someone who needs a basic office speakerphone for daily use with a Windows or Mac computer. It provides decent audio quality, works well with all of the major video conferencing platforms, and can connect via USB or Bluetooth.

This small speaker isn’t going to compare to $300 Bluetooth speakers made for music playback. It also doesn’t work with Android or iOS devices. However, if you are looking for a way to hop on Zoom or Microsoft Teams without wearing earbuds or headphones for yet another hour, this conference speakerphone will absolutely get the job done.
