System Requirements: OptiFine works smoothly regardless of your PC’s specifications. In other words, if your computer is able to run Minecraft, then it should be able to support the weight of the mod as well. However, OptiFine is not available for the Bedrock version of the game, so you can only run it for your Java Minecraft world.
1. Installing OptiFine With Minecraft Forge (With Mods)
Before we begin, it is necessary to ensure that your Minecraft app is up to date. Otherwise, you won’t be able to run the latest version of OptiFine. Once you have made sure that you are running the recent Minecraft update, follow the steps below:
- Go to the OptiFine website to find the most recent version of OptiFine on the top of the homepage, which is Minecraft 1.19.2 in our case. Before you start downloading it, click the “+Preview versions” option.
- You will see the most recently updated versions of the mod. It’s best to download the most recent one. To navigate to its download page, click “Mirror”.
- As the download page appears for our latest version of OptiFine, click the blue “Download” button in the top center of the page and let it download.
- Go to your PC’s “Downloads” folder and navigate to the .JAR file you downloaded. DO NOT open the installer just yet.
- Open your Minecraft mods folder by pressing Windows + R to launch the Run command.
- Search for
%Appdata%/.minecraftand click “OK.”
- In this directory, find and open the folder titled “mods.” If the folder is not there, create a new folder and rename it “mods.”
- Copy the OptiFine installer’s .JAR file and paste it into the mods folder.
- Now that you’ve added the appropriate files to the “mods” folder, it’s time to launch OptiFine via Forge by opening the Minecraft launcher and clicking on the arrow next to your Minecraft version.
- Select your Forge version from the list.
- Hit “Play” to launch Minecraft. Your OptiFine controls will be under the video settings.
2. Installing OptiFine Without Mods
- Download OptiFine from the official OptiFine website to get the executable .JAR file onto your PC as you did above.
- To locate the path to copy to Minecraft, open your Minecraft launcher and go to “Installations.”
