What Is an OptiFine Cape?
Similar to all other Minecraft capes, the OptiFine cape is just another cosmetic item for your in-game character to wear. As the name suggests, it comes packaged with the OptiFine mod, and players can get it from the official OptiFine website. However, the cape is not free and can only be unlocked after making a small donation to OptiFine.
All the donations go toward supporting the development of future OptiFine projects, and players get an awesome cape in return. Even though the OptiFine cape does not make any gameplay changes itself, you at least get to look cool while blowing up your friend’s base with TNT. Moreover, you can customize the way your cape looks, opening up the possibility of unique designs exclusive to you.

How to Unlock the OptiFine Cape
- Go to the official OptiFine website and click on “Donate” on the homepage.
- Enter your Minecraft account username in the empty field.
- To customize your cape, open the “Design” drop-down menu to pick a color preset for your cape.
- Alternatively, click on “Custom” from the list to select an unlisted color for your cape. Simply enter the code for the color you want or pick a color from the color palette.
- You can play around with the different options, and once your cape is finalized, press the “Paymentwall” button to continue.
- Enter your email address and click “Continue.”
- Choose your payment mode and make a donation.
- Download and install OptiFine and launch your game. If you’re on the Java version of the game, your character will automatically equip the cape.
- However, if you’re playing on the Bedrock version, go to the Dressing Room from the Minecraft home screen.
- Go to “Edit Character.”
- Click on “Capes.”
- You will find your OptiFine cape there. Select it and equip it by clicking on “Equip.”

Do OptiFine capes work on OptiFabric?
Similar to Forge, Fabric is a popular mod loader that lets you run OptiFine for Minecraft to install capes just as easily as you would with the Forge version. If you prefer using Fabric over Forge, you shouldn’t face any trouble migrating your capes to OptiFabric.
Can other players see my OptiFine cape?
The answer to this question depends on whether other people on your server have the OptiFine mod installed for their Minecraft. Regardless of which Minecraft version everybody is running, as long as they have the same version of OptiFine, other players will be able to see your stunning cape in-game.
